Common Symptoms of COVID-19
2 to 14 days after exposure, the following symptoms may appear:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
If you develop symptoms and have been in close contact with someone known to have COVID-19, or you’ve recently traveled from an area experiencing the spread of COVID-19, please consult with your doctor immediately.
As there’s currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, the best way to stay safe is to avoid exposure to the virus. That means:
- Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you’re sick.
- Cover coughing and sneezing with a tissue and discard it in the trash immediately after.
- Treat frequently touched objects and surfaces with standard cleaning and disinfecting agents routinely.
- Do not wear a facemask if you are well. Face masks should be worn by people showing symptoms of COVID-10, as well as healthcare workers and those in close proximity to infected patients.
- Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- Keep alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol handy for convenient cleaning when soap and water are unavailable.
